Marion ZS8 once more active after a drought of many years.

 l
Tjerk ZS1J and Yuris YL2GM

After several repeated unsuccessful attempts since 2018 to obtain the necessary permits to visit Marion island and operate from there, Yuris/YL2GM finally has got it! He is currently onboard the ship mv S.A. Agulhas II. Yuris will operate from Marion as ZS8W between April 21 and May 16, 2025.
Yuris will be on the Marion island as radio engineer and member of SANAP station communication equipment maintenance team and stay there for the above mentioned period of time, when this year's annual supply replenishment and exchange of overwintering personnel of the SANAP station is taking place.

The ZS8W website can be found at https://www.lral.lv/zs8w/

Marion Island, ZS8. NCDXF is pleased to announce a significant grant to Yuris, YL2GM for his just announced trip to ZS8W.
We kept our announcement until he was safely on the vessel to Marion Island. We have been holding this announcement for several years.
Yuris has been to South Africa several times with the promise of transportation only to be disappointed. We are so happy for Yuris to finally board the ship.
Yuris will operate CW SSB and FT8 on 160 to 6 m from Marion Island as ZS8W between 21 April and 16 May 2025.
Marion Island is ranked #11 on the Club Log most wanted list. Everyone will be very excited to get an All Time New One (ATNO) and fill their band/modes
or the DXCC Challenge.
The mission of NCDXF is to provide necessary financial support for well-organized DXpeditions to desirable DXCC entities and to support advances in
Xpeditioning skills, technology, and infrastructure. Those funds come from the contributions of our supporters in the DX
community.

Proudly served by Cape Town DX-pedition Services.
